A figure that breaks the record. Natural disasters cost 380 billion dollars to the world economy in 2011, announced on the 5th of March the special representative of the UN Secretary General for natural disasters prevention. The Japanese earthquake, of its own, and the tsunami and the nuclear incident that followed, provoked damages evaluated at 2010 billion dollars by the UN.

This total amount is the "minimum" evaluated and overtakes the 2005 last record of 75%, the year when the hurricane Katrina laid waste to the United States, specified the UN representative, Margareta Wahlström.

While the Summit of Copenhagen has finally been launched, Nicole Guedj, former Minister and President of the Red Helmets Foundation, alerts and appeals to the ‘responsibility to protect’ of the international community.

Beyond the question of the increase of greenhouse gas emissions, the Heads of State of the planet, gathered in the Danish capital, must urgently think about the human consequences of environmental upheavals.

Nicole Guedj will intervene during the "Global Conference", organized by the PlanetWorkshop, on November 26th, 27th and 28th in Deauville.

"... I deeply regret not being with you. I regret it all the more as the subject and the questions that you will speak about this evening are at the heart of my concerns and of my commitments ... "
