An International Committee of the Red Cross employee abducted in Yemen
As he was heading towards Hudaya's airport, port city in West Yemen, a humanitarian worker, whose name remains unknown, was abducted two days ago. The two Yemeni drivers of this International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) employee were released a few hours after the rapt.

Yemen is nowadays considered as a "risky" country, according to the French Ministry for European and Foreign affairs. For the past 15 years, more than 200 abductions of foreigners were reported on this territory.

Death of the French hostage Marie Dedieu
She was used to call it her "small paradise". Marie Dedieu, a 66-years-old French woman, settled in Lamu's archipelago, in Kenya, about 15 years ago. This is the very place where she was kidnapped on the 30th of September 2011 by an armed commando. Whereas the French Ministry of Foreign affairs announced her death this morning, the Red Helmets Foundation set on paying tribute to this committed woman's great courage.

Paris, October 22th  (TV5 Monde) - Nicole Guedj was invited to the show "Francophonie & Solidarité", on TV5 Monde. The debate denounced the sanitary emergency in Haïti ten months after the terrible eathquake. The President of the Foundation calls again for the creation of a Red Helmets force at the UN, as a necessary step to a new humanitarian governance.

Appello alla comunità internazionale e al segretario delle NU di René Préval e dell'ex ministro francese Nicole Guedj "E' stata la catastrofe di troppo. Ci siamo resi conto che non abbiamo imparato niente dalle lezioni dello Tsunami". "Per la disorganizzazione perse troppe vite, serve una forza di reazione rapida che coordini i soccorsi"  

Port-au-Prince - Ad un mese dal catastrofico terremoto che ha sconvolto Haiti, l'isola è ancora alle prese con il caos dei soccorsi.

Pompiers ou "Casques rouges": avec Haïti, la réactivité humanitaire en débat
Paris, 05 April 2010 (AFP)- Des "pompiers" de l'ONU ou de l'UE seront-ils déployés sur le terrain lors de prochaines catastrophes naturelles? C'est une des pistes relancées depuis le séisme en Haïti qui a entraîné une prise de conscience sur la nécessité de mieux coordonner l'aide internationale.

 

Après le tremblement de terre du 12 janvier, la mobilisation a été rapide et l'aide est arrivée en masse. Pourtant la population a attendu des semaines avant de la voir venir, courant dans le chaos après vivres, abris et soins.

Bientôt des Casques Rouges à l’ONU ?
Marroco, 5 April 2010 (Atlantic Radio) - Retenez ce nom : les Casques Rouges, les frères humanitaires des Casques Bleus de l’ONU. C’est en tout cas, le projet porté par la présidente de la Fondation Casques rouges, Nicole Guedj, et le président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, Jean Ping, pour venir au secours des victimes des catastrophes naturelles.

La création d’une force d’intervention internationale civile permettrait de coordonner les aides d’urgences à destination des zones de conflits.
