Following the violent earthquake that hit Haiti a few hours ago, the Red Helmet Foundation is deploying its container of telecommunication by satellite, EMERGESAT, on the ground of the disaster.
At 4.30 pm, it will be transported from the military base in Istres to Haiti on board of the second French airplane hurried up by the Quai d’Orsay. This plane will also transport rescue equipment from the Civil Security and the Fire-fighters.
Developed by the Red Helmet Foundation, in partnership with the National Centre of Spatial Studies (CNES) and Thales Alenia Space, the EMERGESAT container uses the satellite technologies to enable the rescue teams to communicate among themselves, to exchange the and organise the rescue.
A container is put at the disposition of the Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2006.
