Several weeks after the launch of the “Alerte Enlèvement” - the French version of the Amber Alert - on Iphone, Blackberry and Androïd users may now download a version compatible with their mobiles.

In September 2009, the Red Helmets Foundation of the former minister Nicole Guedj – initiator of the Alerte Enlèvement in France – has been selected within the « Proxima mobile » project call for its proposal to extend the Alerte Enlèvement device to mobile phones. Since then, the application has been installed on more than 60 000 iPhones and has been ranked TOP 25 in the Appstore in less than two days.

The Red Helmets Foundation aims at involving as much persons as possible in the search efforts and therefore continuously works on the extension of the application to further operating systems, as Blackberry, Androïd and soon also on Windows Mobile. This logic was also behind the creation of the e-@lerte enlèvement on the internet, in may 2009, in partnership with Orange, Google, yahoo!, Free, SFR, MSN, blogSpirit, Dailymotion...

For Nicole Guedj, former minister and president of the Red Helmets Foundation: “Since its creation, the Alerte Enlèvement proved itself efficient. However, it has to adapt to nowadays’ habits. In fact, although not everyone sits in front of his TV in the afternoon, almost everyone sticks to his cell phone. Thanks to the diffusion of alert messages on the internet and mobile phones, the entire community may now mobilise to save children in danger.”
