In 2004, after the abduction of a child, Nicole Guedj, then Secretary of State for the protection of victims’rights, decided to transposed the US Amber Alert. Created in 2006, the French Amber Alert has been triggered ten times since then, and saved 13 children.
The creation of the 2.0 French Amber Alert: the kidnapping e-@lert
The French Amber Alert was only broadcasted on old media. To extend its impact, the Red Helmets Foundation created in 2009 the 2.0 version, in partnership with Orange, Free, SFR,Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Dailymotion, blogSpirit, the ASIC and Silicon Sentier.
Thanks to their commitment, and their work on their website to put the 2.0 version forward, the French Amber Alert can gather more than 15 million Internet users.

Mobile app of the French Amber Alert
In 2010, the Red Helmets Foundation decided to develop a mobile app for iPhone,Blackberry, Android and Windows Phone 7. This project, singled out by Proxima Mobile, a government mobile app platform, has been designed with FaberNovel and C4M Prod.
Since then, this free app has been downloaded by more than 150,00 users who are notified as soon as a child is reported as disappeared.Then they can participate to the search.
Recently, our Belgian and Swiss neighbours created their own Amber alert. Swiss people are even thinking to implement a mobile app, such as the one created by the Red Helmets Foundation. Nicole Guedh has always supported the fight of her Swiss and Belgian counterparts, and has called for the extension of the Alert at an European scale “to deter kidnappers from crossing borders”.
To go further, the Red Helmets Foundation would like to institute a partnership with Facebook, as it has been done in the US. After the abduction of Elise in 2009, the Red Helmets Foundation created a group on Facebook to inform the social network members that the child had been kidnapped. More than 260, 000 people have already joined, and the Foundation wants to use the power of Facebook to involve the largest number of people as possible.
