A committed book fair
Humanitarian writers are too often left in the shadow at book fairs. The Red Helmets Foundation wants to honour this literary humanitarian community.
And this is why the Red Helmets Foundation decided to create Humani’BOOK, a humanitarian book fair, to help the public and humanitarian actors to talk with each other. This can be achieved by meetings with committed-writers, documentary films makers, exhibitions, and think tank about international solidarity.
Humani’BOOK is designed for all those who want to dive into the humanitarian planet for a book fair time.

Humani’BOOK 2010
It took place on the 25th of April 2010, at the Comptoir Général. From Darfur to global warming, Humani’BOOK experts shared their experiences and knowledge : Richard Rossin, co-founder of Doctors Without Borders (Urgence Darfour. Broché), Patrick Kelders, teacher at Haute Ecole de Namur (Si peu d’humanité. L’Harmattan.), Patrick Aeberard, former chairman of Doctors of the World (L’argent des ONG-la liberté des ONG aux risques de leur financement. Les études Hospitalières), Christian Troubé, editor in chief of La Vie, (L’humanitaire, un business comme les autres. Larousse)and many others…
Movies aficionados discovered 8, Le temps presse, (8, It is time to act) short movies about the 8 millenium goals, and Tuez les Tous ! Rwanda : L’histoire d’un génocide,(Kill them all ! Rwanda : story of a genocide), documentary about the Tutsi genocide in 1994. At last, another documentary was presented, re human rights, realised by the United Nations (A work in progress : Haiti human rights).
The Galerie Art & Miss and many artists got involved, and gave to the Foundation a part of the money they earn thanks to the sell of their crafts.
At last, a debate about the future of humanitarian action closed the day "Haiti postmortem : how to think the international organization of rescue ?”

Humani’BOOK 2011
Humani’BOOK 2011 took place at the Collège des Bernardins on the 12th of March.
Natural disasters, armed conflicts, human rights defence, fight against poverty, impact of global warming, etc. The thirty-five writers part of Humani’BOOK shared their knowledge: Christian Troubé, former Vice-President of Action Against Hunger, who denounces humanitarian excesses, in L’Humanitaire, un business comme les autres (Larousse, 2009) ; Renaud Girard, well-known for his artices the French dailynewspaper Le Figaro with Retour à Peshawar (Grasset, 2010) ; Dr Michel Brugière for Refuser le malheur du monde : les 30 ans de Médecins du Monde (Le Cherche-Midi, 2010) ; Patricia Lalonde and Anne-Marie Lizin, honorary president of the Belgian Senate, for their involvement in Afghanistan with Abdullah, Abdullah, l'homme qui dit non aux talibans (de l'Arbre, 2011) ; Pierre Micheletti, former President of Doctors of the World, and his novel Les Orphelins (Embrasure, 2010) ...
Movies aficionados watched film documentaries Haïti : la blessure de l'âme, (“Haïti, the soul's wound” ) from Cécile Allegra and Raoul Seigneur, selected at the Montreal World Film Festival, or Goudou, Goudou, les voix ignorées de la reconstruction, (“Goudou- Goudou, the ignored voices of the Haitian reconstruction")from Giordano Cossu and Benoît Cassegrain, just back from Port-au-Prince.
Removing and instructive, these accounts were echoing the photography exhibition by Frederic de la Mure : « Haïti: Before/After”. With thirty pictures, the official Foreign Office photographer succeeded to show the impact of the earthquake on the Haitian population as well as on the French rescue teams.
