It’s been two months since the terrible earthquake that devastated Haiti. The Red Helmet Foundation was mobilized just hours after the disaster and is now able to evaluate its local action during these months.
Two EMERGESAT containers of telecommunication tools by satellite were deployed in Port-au-Prince in order to help all rescue teams to communicate with their back office and other teams. It has indeed been a great success as EMERGESAT has allowed NGOs and rescuers to establish 19 178 phone communications, which corresponds to 1 352 hours of communication.
Sandrine Bacquet, member of “Pompiers Humanitaires Français”, (French Humanitarian Firemen) testified about EMERGESAT: "I was in Haiti and I want to thank the Red Helmet Foundation for their telecommunication system. It allowed me to use computer tools and communicate in order to coordinate help. Many Thanks!"
On request of the French rescue teams, the Red Helmet Foundation has decided to extend its mission in Haiti until the local communication networks would be fixed.
