Actualités

Two weeks after the terrible earthquake which ravaged Haiti and its capital Port-au-Prince, a poll OpinionWay realized for the Red Helmets Foundation reveals that 94 % of the French population is favourable to the creation of a humanitarian international task force, placed under the aegis of the UN, to coordinate the rescue teams on the theatre of major disasters*.

The French population approves by a large majority the creation of a humanitarian international task .
While a great majority of the French population considers that the international assistance was useful and fast, they judge severely its lack of coordination. Only 17 % of them think that the cooperation between the various actors takes place easily on the ground. A figure which echos the difficulties met by the humanitarian community to regulate the first emergency aid as well as the sanitary and food assistance.

A few days after the “Appeal of Port-au-Prince” launched by the Haitian President René Préval, this plebiscite for a new humanitarian governance thus shows that the French people know how to retain the lesson of Haiti. Will it be the same during the international conference on Haiti?

Poll realized with 1058 personnes, on January 20th and 21st 2010
